Mr. John Callowhill, a World War II veteran with the First Special Service Force, spoke to our students and staff in a solemn ceremony to mark Remembrance Day on November 10. Mr. Callowhill has joined us for the last three years and the message was clear, it is important to recognize the sacrifices made by so many. Mr. Callowhill has been recognized with many awards and has appeared in a CBC documentary about his unit and the tremendous impact it had in the Italian Campaign.
The Ceremony organized by Ms. M. D'Angelo was a multi-media presentation which marked among other events, the 100th anniversary of many World War I battles including the Battle of Passchendaele. We were very honoured with the presence of many guests from the Military. Major Carlo Tittarelli, Lieutenant Jose Pablo Bustamante, Corporal Stephen Botelho as well as CN student and Cadet Patryck Burke. Major Tittarelli and Corporal Botelho are both former CN students.
Mikayla D'Agostino, Student Council President, and Grade 11 student Kristofer Horvat served as outstanding Master of Ceremonies. Ms. M. D'Angelo's period 5 grade 10 History class assisted with the set-up and delivery of the Ceremony and were outstanding in their roles. Many groups participated in the Ceremony with great performances including Mr. Ciprietti and the Tech Crew, Ms. Ferroni and the CN Small Contemporary Dance Team and Ms. Racki-Mahovlich and the CN Concert Band and Glee Club.
